Imported fire ants (Solenopsis invicta) are an increasing concern for farming operations as they expand across southern Virginia. Proper management of fire ants is key to reducing their presence on farm lands. This fact sheet discusses the fire ant quarantine in Virginia and provides information on appropriate control measures, including chemical baits, for fire ants in hayfields and pastures.
