Permeable pavement is a pavement material, usually asphalt or concrete, that is made permeable by eliminating fine materials from the mix. This allows runoff to infiltrate through the pavement to a stone reservoir below the pavement. This fact sheet describes the benefits of this practice, and potential issues that should be addressed for it to be successful.
