The purpose of the publication is to encourage wood product producers to use Lean management principles to improve the effectiveness and the efficiency of their operation. The publication describes the fictional experiences of Martin Palmer, general manager at Hardwood Lumber, Inc. from his joining the company in 2009 to 2015. During this time, Martin experiences changes in the ownership of the company, in the management team, as well as in the business environment, all the while he gets promoted from continuous improvement manager to general manager.
