Farms to Families project in Montgomery County supports farmers and families in need , articleFrom July 2024 to December 2025, Montgomery County's Farms to Families program procured and distributed over 15,275 pounds of local ground beef and 13,500 pounds of fresh produce to more than 4,000 families in need. This program was made possible by a $150,000 Local Food Purchase Assistance Plus (LFPA+) grant from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Experts ask public to help scout for new cotton pest , articleThe two-spot cotton leafhopper (also known as or the cotton jassid) is a tiny (2–3 mm long) green insect that can cause severe plant injury as it feeds—in extreme cases reducing cotton yields by 50%. The insect is a significant pest for cotton, but it can also feed on a wide range of vegetables and ornamentals, including okra, hibiscus, and snap beans.
