Greater community engagement is necessary for Cooperative Extension to serve a conduit between higher education institutions and society. However, use of an expert model of program delivery is also necessary in some instances. This article provides a working definition and conceptual framework of the expert model of program delivery. Examples of the use of this model are included from the perspective of Extension educators from two states that participated in a qualitative research study. Recommendations for increasing engagement while using this model are also provided.
